Taxi to Machu Picchu and country brand campaigns

This short post is dedicated to myself, because I’m working in the office again and there is a big danger that I might forget about being a traveller… Noooooo! Never! ๐Ÿ™‚ First reason why I’m posting this is that I found another country brand campaign of Peru and as before I like the concept a lot. Peruvians know how to promote their country and attract millions of tourists each year. Previously I analyzed the campaign called “Peru Nebraska” and this time I would like to write more about the (maybe) last country brand campaign from 2012.

The concept is very simple. It’s year 2032 and an older business man gets a USB stick with his memories that go back to 2012 – the time, when he used to be a backpacker in Peru. He quickly realizes that it was cool to be a traveller twenty years ago, to be free and enjoy life and suddenly he gets an idea: Return back to Peru, but this time with his wife. I assume that Peru wants to attract “old” backpackers, also with their families, which means that they will spend more money. Smart move Peru!

This is the international country brand video that I’m talking about (with strange English dubbing):

And now comes the reason why I’m writing this post to myself. I don’t want to forget how empowering was to travel and meet great people along the way. So I would like to ask you for a favor. In case that I’ll become a very successful manager, with a big watch on my wrist and I’ll forget about my travel boots, please send me the following video. Remind me that one day I took a taxi to Machu Picchu and the only thing that I cared about was that “girls just wanna have fun”. I miss you Leslee, Emilie and Luna ๐Ÿ™‚
