Why am I traveling now to Venezuela?

In these times, when people say lot of stories about Venezuela, I have decided to go and check it out. This country is not on the popular backpacker list and lot of travelers looked at me with a weird expression, questioning my decision to travel to Venezuela. Though, I am positive and I believe that it can’t go wrong. One of the reasons why I am traveling to Venezuela is that when I lived in Tenerife, Canary islands, I met so many nice Venezuelans that told me about their beautiful country, that it was hard to say no to the opportunity of going there when I am so close (I am in Colombia right now).
Because of the “off the beaten track” country, I did tons of research to be sure that I am doing the right thing. I contacted my friends who live there. I contacted friends of a friends that live there. I have to mention Dasa, a Slovak girl who lives in Venezuela, who helped answering 100000 questions that I had. Ďakujem! 🙂 And finally, I contacted the couch surfing community that seems to work even better than in the other South American countries. So I hope that I will couch surf as much as I can.

I will have “only” 2 weeks for this beautiful country, so after making my research, I prioritized 2 destinations: the Angel waterfall, the tallest waterfall in the world and the Island Margarita, known for it’s beautiful beaches.
The bus is leaving in one hour (18hours!) and I literally feel like starting a new trip. In a way, I can’t wait to discover this country and experience what is going on there. Stay tuned, I will try to do my best to keep you posted about traveling and the situation in Venezuela.

Venezuela, quiero comer arepas!! jeje 🙂
