Uyuni/Salt flats tour

At this point I’ve been to Bolivia for one week only, but so many things have happened, e.g. carnival, flu, the mines in Potosí. Bolivia was definitely a different experience than Argentina or Chile. It was exciting, but at the same time I couldn’t get rid of my cold and stomach problems. I decided to do the Salt Flats tour (3days) and leave back to Chile to recover on a beach.

Salt flats tour. I took a bus from Potosi to Uyuni. It took around 6 hours and it was not a pleasant bus ride. The bus broke down and we had to wait for some time. Once I got to Uyuni I was approached by a lady who offered different tours to me and my travel buddy Andreas. We were very tired after the bus ride, but we agreed to have a more clear presentation of the tour. The lady took us to “El Extremo tours” office, where she explained how the tour looks like and we agreed on the price (700 Bolivianos), so we could leave the next day early morning. That was easy! The next morning we embarked our jeep and met Alejandro, our driver, guide and a cook in one person. Respect to all drivers they have to be on alert all the time, drive, prepare food and take care of their passengers in the elevation of 5000m! Alejandro did a good job and I was satisfied with the tour. It was one of these tours that will stay in my memories forever. It was for different reasons: amazing nature, views, pelicans, dancing to reggae music on salt flats 🙂 I don’t feel like writing about it anymore, I will let my photos speak for me. If you can, do this tour, it is a once-in-a-life-time experience.

  2. Hi , very nice pictures , really looking forward to going there 😉

I am in San Pedro now, and thinking about booking the trip from here, although a bit more expensive. Did the 700 include all the entrance fees ?

    • Hej Stig! Er du fra Danmark? I lived there 🙂 Anyaway, a good question! You have to pay 150 bolivianos extra for entering the national park (Laguna Colorada). Personally, I loved that place, so I think that it was worth it. Otherwise it includes everything. I heard that if you are booking the tour from San Pedro, it could be more expensive, so you might check on that… Enjoy the tour and I am happy that you liked my pictures. Hej, hej 🙂
