Christmas abroad, while backpacking

One of the downsides of traveling in the Southern hemisphere during the summer (winter in Europe) is that I am actually spending Christmas here and there is nothing that reminds me of our traditional celebration in Slovakia (where is “kapor?”). But no complaints, this is again a great new experience!

Actually, everything that I wished for before Xmas became true. My wish was to spend it in Valparaiso/Chile, on a beach and in a nice company. And here I am in this artistic city, with lot of street art, young people and beaches nearby in Viňa del mar. Before coming here, I met a group of 3 French people and a South African in Uspallata in Argentina. We quickly became travel buddies and hitchhiked to Valparaiso together. We are staying in a beautiful hostel Casa Verde Limon, with other guests from all around the world. Well, the majority is from France, so I actually feel like spending Xmas in France than in Chile ☺

Last night, we made a very nice and tasty dinner. Starting with tapas, as main course we had pasta with shrimps and great “apple empanadas” as desert. And now it’s time to go to the beach and enjoy the sun!
Merry Xmas to everyone and I hope that you are enjoying these days in peace, love and happiness ☺
